Quirindi Eventing CCI 2024 Preview

Quirindi Eventing CCI – order or view XC Videos here

Quirindi Eventing CCI is taking place this weekend and we’re pretty sure we can predict the winner of the CCI4*-L!

Not only is Jess Somerfield a very good rider but she is also the only competitor in this week’s CCI4*-L taking place at Quirindi, NSW; our overseas readers are probably amazed that the class is being run for just one rider but that’s how it rolls in Australia, with event organisers trying their best to help riders get the qualifications they need. Following her tumble at Ellerston Scone Horse Trials, it’s great to see Jess back in competition and she will be riding Finch Farm Carpentaria in the 4*-L.

The 3* is being run as a national short format class with Ellerston 3* and 2* winners and stable mates, Emma Bishop’ s Cassilis Park Figaro and Hazel Shannon’s Willingapark Chelsea set to battle it out, but they won’t have it easy as young guns Oliver Barrett and Olivia Barton will be up against them on two Sandhills horse – Sandhills Briar and Sandhills Gem.

All other classes, including the national level classes from EvA60 to CCN1* and the CCI2* are being run as long format – particularly valuable for the lower-level riders who rarely to get to experience this format including the two horse inspections.

We’re filming all riders on cross country so keep an eye out for some cross country video snippets during the weekend and we’ll be back with a full report next week!
