There was a little to-ing and fro-ing of calendar dates for the CCI event at Quirindi Eventing but the final date of 15th – 17th August means that the event is now underway!

The second Quirindi eventing competition of 2025 at Quirindi Racecourse is very much focussed on long format competition, hosting three international CCI classes with a CCI4*-S and CCI3*-S plus a long format class at CCI2*-L. The long format classes also flow down to the national classes with a CCN1*-L, EvA95L, EvA80-L and EvA60-L, giving competitors at the lower levels a chance to experience the long format usually reserved for international classes at higher levels.

Following the traditional three-day format, all dressage got underway on Friday after the first horse inspections with Oliver Barrett riding Sandhills Briar, his CCI3*-L winning horse at Adelaide Equestrian Festival in May, leading the Boonoona Design CCI4*-S with a score of 29.30, the only sub-30 score of the class.

Two thoroughbreds are in second and third places with Andrew Barnett riding Chasing Great in second (32.5) and Olivia Shore riding Dreamcatcher in third.

Sturat Tinney riding Caruso leads the Bundella Station CCI3*-S, also with the only sub-30 score of the class on 27.7 while Lydia Proctor and Sandhills Stella, recent winners of the Equestrian NSW Eventing Junior Rider and Horse of the Year, lead the Quirindi Plumbing CCI2*-L.

All riders will be out on cross country on Saturday and of course we’ll be filming you all! You can order your full Quirindi CCI XC Videos here
