Camden Equine Centre Sydney Eventing Spring Classic cross country videos
Cathryn (Catie) Herbert and her black stallion Wimborne Constable hold the lead in the CCN4* after Saturday’s dressage and showjumping phases at the Camden Equine Centre Sydney Eventing Spring Classic.
On a beautifully sunny Saturday morning at the Sydney International Centre, the 17 competitors in the Camden Equine Clinic CCN4* were among the first in the dressage arenas with World Championship and Olympic combination Shenae Lowings and Bold Venture, having their first hit out since Adelaide Equestrian Festival, taking the top spot on the only sub-30 score of 29.40.
Close behind were Oliver Barrett riding Sandhills Briar (30.80) and Cathryn (Catie) Herbert riding Wimborne Constable (31) but it was Catie and her black stallion who finished the day in the lead.
The afternoon showjumping proved influential with just two combinations – Hazel Shannon riding her four time 5* winner Willingapark Clifford and Tara Rogers on board Denison Park Smooth - jumping clear around the grass showjumping track. Shenae dropped one rail, moving her to third (33.4) while both Oliver and Catie jumped clear rounds but with time faults.
The faster of the two, Catie moved into the lead with 0.4 time penalties on a score of 31.4 while Oliver maintained second place (32) with 1.2 time penalties. But with such tight scores and some very good combinations in the class, it will be an exciting day of cross country tomorrow.
The Camden Equine Clinic CCN3* and Horseland Dural CCN2* also did both dressage and showjumping today with Emma Bishop riding the aptly named Bobby Dazzler leading after both dressage and showjumping on a score of 26.90 ahead of Tekira Wilde riding El Dorado (27.7) and Emma Mason riding Warrego Marco Polo (29).
Christine Bates riding Statford Matilda and Judy Clarke riding Oaks Quasimodo share the same score of 34 at the top of the CCN2* leaderboard with Blair Richardson riding VH Victor very close behind on 34.7.
While all other classes head out on cross country tomorrow, the four EvA65 sections completed their competitions today with Sandy Lucas riding Point Farm Heidi winning the Belle Equestrian EvA65A Open, Junior rider Ava Dirou riding Ballymount Lord Rubin winning the Lady Godiva Equestrian EvA65B Open, Abi Corby riding Green Acres Sacred Heart winning the Cross Country App EvA65 Freshman and Daisy Craig riding RAE Park I’m A Wanderer taking the Pixel Eight EvA65 Junior.
