A three-way battle is underway in the CCN4*-S at the REC Equine Specialists Sydney Eventing Autumn Classic after Saturday’s dressage and showjumping.

He may not have an experienced horse as a ‘done deal’ for this year’s World Championship but Shane Rose threw down the gauntlet in the dressage, taking the lead on a score of 25.7 on board the nine-year-old Holy Moses. It was a score that not only blew away their previous dressage results at this level but also pipped the well-established pair of Shenae Lowings and Bold Venture, who had to settle for second place on 26.5 and Oliver Barrett riding Sandhills Briar, CCI4*-L winners at last year’s Sydney International, in third on 29.7.

Things turned around for Shenae in the showjumping however when Bold Venture show jumped clear to move ahead of both Shane and Oliver, who now share equal second place (29.7) heading into Sunday’s cross country.

Katie Taliana riding Revelwood Wynston Street leads the Assistance Dogs Australia CCN3*-S and Carlene Barton riding Henrik APH leads the Black Forge Farrier Services CCN2*.

We’ll be back with a quick update tomorrow and full report during the week – stay tuned!
