There is a ray of sunshine on the horizon for Australian eventing with the Steelworks Construction Queensland International 3 Day Event set to go ahead

Although Australia has once again being battered by rainstorms and flooding, with much of it affecting the East Coast of Australia yet again, the organising committee of the Queensland 3DE have their hopes firmly pinned on the event running from 21st – 23rd October

The event will take place at Tamborine, where several events each year are organised by Charlotte Price and the Tamborine Equestrian Group, but most of those have been cancelled this year due to the wet weather.

Originally scheduled for 28th – 31st July, next week’s Queensland 3DE will feature the Queensland State Championships, hosting International long and short format CCI4* and 3* classes and a CCI2*-L. There are also National levels from EvQ65 to CCN1* and it is full steam ahead at Tamborine to get everything ready for the arrivals next week

Luckily the most recent wave of wet weather has not affected the venue too badly

“We’ve had some good sunshine and dry weather recently and, although there is some rain forecast leading into the event, we’re going to push on and do everything we possibly can to ensure this event runs” says Charlotte Price, the Event Director

Although the more southern state of Victoria has been luckier with the weather and some events were able to run as the winter weather eased, NSW and Queensland have been hit by the last year’s El Nina weather patterns, causing many events, large and small, to cancel and leaving competitors short on qualifications and MERs

Hopefully the Steelworks Construction Queensland 3 Day Event will go some way towards resolving that problem next week and thankfully the Australian Bureau of Meteorology’s modelling is predicting that the current La Nina conditions will likely decline over spring with a return to more neutral patterns
