The Blundell family are very involved in organising the Harden Murrumburrah Horse Trials in NSW, with their daughter Nat posting a photo of her parents Joe and Lin flagging the cross country fences just before the event.
Their commitment to the country event with a strong community and friendly feel is second to none and, as Nat says on her socials, “42 years contributing to the Harden Horse Trials Association is getting to be some sort of record I think!!” Indeed.
As well as being Joe and Lin Blundell’s daughter, Nat is of course a very experienced and well-known rider. Winner of the (now) Adelaide CCI5* in 1999, she also finished second in 2012 on board Algebra, a horse she had brought up through the grades who very successfully finished his career in the UK with Andrew Hoy after Nat had a stint competing overseas.
Nat’s socials also alerted us to a very fun set of fences on course at Harden this year with some very special decorations by Don Brown, which seem to have really caught the imagination of the eventing community around the world on our Facebook page!
This weekend Nat was competing at slightly lower levels but still showed her style, winning both the Emma Brown Legal EvA95 on Chilli Mist and the Red Fox Asset Finance EvA80 Division A on Tarburra Valentia while Erin Ferry riding Nioka Hills Nemrud took out the top class in the Two Colour Property Maintenance CCN1*-S.
