In memory of Gill Rolton

Gill Rolton, Australian Olympic eventing gold medallist and Director of the Australian International 3 Day Event in Adelaide, was farewelled at a State Funeral today in South Australia

The funeral, held at Victoria Park in Adelaide, the location of the Australian International 3 Day Event, was attended by 1,000 of her family, friends and members of the equestrian community who paid tribute to her while her beloved golden retriever Josie stood guard in front of Gill’s casket

Throughout her later life Gill was involved with the Australian International 3 Day Event in its many guises and she was responsible for guiding the event into a new era in more recent times. The event is now her legacy to Australian eventing

Gill was a great supporter of An Eventful Life, from the early days of  the book to the more internationally flavoured website and she was generous in sharing her knowledge and experience. We saw her at events around the world and many is the time that we would consult Gill on rules and regulations to ensure we had the correct information!

In 2015 Debbie Higgs chatted informally to Gill about how she became involved with the event, what her role involved and why it was so special to her

In memory of Gill, here is the story in her own words
