Emma Bishop was particularly pleased with her clear show jumping round on CP Issey Miyake at Lynton Horse Trials and deservedly so, as it helped her to secure the win of the CIC3* at the Willinga Park NSW State Eventing Championships today

Only three riders, Emma, Andrew Cooper on Oaks Onyx and Usman Khan on Al Buraq jumped double clear show jumping rounds first thing this morning at Lynton Horse Trials in Goulburn.  Although Stuart Tinney riding Celebration, in second place after the dressage, didn’t drop any poles he did add seven time penalties, moving Katie Taliana on Friday Street into second place and giving Emma a breathing space of 6.8 penalties heading into the afternoon’s cross country phase

      Katie Taliana and Trevalgar II

When Lauren Browne and Skys Da Limit, third after dressage and show jumping, picked up 20 penalties at Fence 9B, Katie claimed both second and third places with Friday Street adding just 2.4 time penalties (39.20) and the experienced Trevalgar II, the last horse on course as the rain started to come down, producing the only double clear cross country round to finish on 43.90

Emma’s 10-year-old mare CP Issey Miyake has an impressive cross country record but she had an uncharacteristic refusal here at Goulburn last year so it was with some trepidation that Emma set out on course today. ‘I certainly didn’t do the best round but I was quite determined to get to the finish without any jumping penalties!’ says Emma

They now head to Albury for a ‘refresher’ before the Australian International 3 Day Event where CP Issey Miyake will have her first 4* start and we think that this mare and her petite rider could well be ones to watch in Adelaide …..
