Interview with Shane Rose at Quirindi

Shane Rose’s 10-year-old gelding Stakkino is still ‘green at this level’ says Shane but he handled the wet conditions on cross country at Quirindi CCN well enough to take his first CCN4*-S win today

Quirindi is the first event to run in NSW since early June and Stakkino has been ticking over in the background while Shane was busy at Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and then working hard on his properties during lockdown. But Team Rose was back to competition with a bang this weekend, bringing a truck full of horses and going home with ribbons

Shane and Stakkino moved up from third place after yesterday’s dressage and show jumping to take the win with a clear cross country round and the fastest time of 26 time penalties, reflecting the weather conditions and that the horses competing had not had any pervious runs. Shane also took second place on his wife Niki’s Dreamcatcher and Heath Ryan, leader after the dressage, finished in third on Bronze Boy R

Shane also won the CCN3* on board Matrixx while Alicia Seery riding Kings Krackerjack won the CCN2* and Mollie Kennedy took the CCN1* on Lavender Rise Ferghus
