      Matt Gaske and Bellhaven Cumbria

Queenslander Matt Gaske returned to his local event, the Motorama Tamborine One Day Event, with last year’s 2* winner Bellhaven Cumbria and added this year’s CCN3*-S to their tally

Matt and Bellhaven Cumbria were in third place after the dressage and show jumping but a clear cross country round with the fastest time of the day secured them the win. The overnight leader Jess Somerfield opted for a slow and steady cross country ride for Lakeview Albion’s first competition to finish in fourth but she picked up a win in the EvQ65 on board the young HB Zara so still went home with a rug

James Ferrier’s ‘up and down’ Saturday was repaid on Sunday with second place in the CCN3*-S on board Sidestep (more to come from James too) and Megan Cooper riding the delightfully named Kelecyn Bam Bam took third place

      Gemma O'Leary and Arnage Porsche

It has been a while since Gemma O’Leary competed at Tamborine but this is a property she used to call home so it was an extra special win for her in the Cushaven Park CCN2*-S, especially as it was on board Arnage Porsche, a horse she has had since a foal that she broke in herself and brought up through the grades

“It’s really rewarding to come out and get results like this. I wasn’t really planning on winning anything today, but she performed really well and I’m so happy with her” Gemma told us

Andrew Cooper, who led this class after the first day on Manhattan, had to settle for fifth but he took home (which isn’t very far now that he has moved to Queensland) the win in the Belrock Equestrian CCN1* on board Pepper Jack

Dean Morris and Belrock Nadal, who led going into the cross country, added 11.2 time penalties to drop down to seventh, allowing Andrew and Pepper Jack to take the lead with a double clear cross country round

We’ll have the full report across all classes, more rider interviews and cross country videos coming up later this week.

Thank you Tamborine ODE, we got a bit wet on Sunday but we were warm and wet! We loved this event and we’ll be back!
