Double Olympic medallist Stuart Tinney will be representing his country once more, in a slightly different capacity in the future, as the Australian High Performance Eventing Technical Lead.
The role, advertised by Equestrian Australia in January this year, includes the planning and implementation of the technical elements of the High Performance Eventing program, ‘ensuring that the national program has an international performance focus and incorporates leading edge practices’.
It seems a perfect fit for the man that has been selected to represent Australia more than 10 times over 30 years, including four Olympic Games (Sydney 2000, Athens 2004, Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020) and five World Championships (1988 World Equestrian Games Stockholm, 1998 World Equestrian Games Rome, 2002 World Equestrian Games Jerez, 2010 World Equestrian Games Kentucky and 2014 World Equestrian Games Kentucky).
Stuart is also an FEI Level 3 and Equestrian Australia Level 4 accredited Cross Country Course Designer who still competes where his course design obligations allow.
“We are very excited to announce that Stuart has taken this position with Equestrian Australia in High Performance as their 'Eventing Technical Lead'” says Tinney Eventing.
“Stuart is looking forward to contributing his expertise and knowledge and believes that his skill sets will be of great benefit for the role. His ability to bring home medals for Australia has given him a unique insight into what it takes to be a Champion in this ever-evolving sport. His duties will still allow Stuart to compete, coach, plus course design”
"It is a great honour to have this recognition from Equestrian Australia” says Stuart, who is now focussed on the Australian High Performance preparation for the next Eventing Championships ‘and hopefully beyond!'
