Australia's Ewan Kellett and Clayton Fredericks and New Zealand’s Chris Ross have been appointed as FEI Level 4 Cross Country Course Designers. They join an elite group of now 14 FEI Level 4 Cross Country Designers, who are qualified to design Olympic, World Championship and CCI5* eventing cross country courses following rigorous training and assessment.
Ewan Kellett, who become the youngest ever FEI-level course designer at the age of 32, has designed courses all around Australia, including the Melbourne International 3 Day Event in his home state of Victoria while US-based Clayton Fredericks has moved from competing at the highest level into course design more recently (watch our interview with Clayton on his course design career here).
Chris Ross also made the transition from competitor to course designer and, alongside designing many of the top 4* and Oceania Championship courses in New Zealand, has more recently designed the long format 4* course at Sydney International 3 Day Event at Horsley Park, where he will return to design again in November this year.
