A bitter sweet time for Tinney Eventing

Stuart clocks up a great win at Albury on Pluto Mio

March and early April was certainly bitter sweet times for us- with the passing of Jeepster- then the glory of wins and places at NEGS, WARWICK and ALBURY. With a fabulous bunch of horses that we have right now and the support of their owners we feel privileged.

Stuart first time for years went on a two week run with Corinna and Darren Huskinson’s War Hawk, and our own Sydney, My Thai and Scenic wood. At NEGS War Hawk won the 1 star, Sydney 2nd 1 star and My Thai won the EV 105. At Waewick Sydney won the 2 star, War Hawk 2nd 1 star and Thai after a substantial win in the dressage went down to ninth after a stop at the water – we were very pleased with him at his first 1 star- and a decent course.

Returning home on the Tuesday to pack up and leave for Albury on the Friday with John and Jane Pittards Pluto Mio, Annapurna and Katherine Strelien’s lovely young horse Calgary Alfred. (2nd in the EV 95)
The weekend went the best it could for Stuart and Pluto with a 37 in the dressage and then a double clear to win the class- a fabulous result just before Sydney CCI*** Trans Tasman Cup which Stuart has been named as part of the 6- (the team will of 4 will be announced soon.)

   Jaymee at Silver Hills

Gemma and Jaymee have also been out and about – with Gemma winning the EV 105 junior at Silverhills recently and her sister coming in 6th – they actually swapped horses as ‘Woody’ needs some starts to get some more experience- hence Jaymee and Stuart taking him around some 1 stars.

Gemma enjoyed a winning weekend at Silver Hills

Gemma also cleaned up at the Oxley Interschools (sponsored by CopRice) with a win and second in the 105 jumping and Derby.

Stuart has also has been selected for inclusion in the NSW Hall of Champions, a huge honor which goes along side his induction into the Australian Sports Hall of fame that he was awarded in 2003.

It appears that Stuart is very busy with his course building. While the visiting course designing maestro, Mike Etherington-Smith, is designing the CCI3* course at the Sydney International Horse Trials at the end of April, Stuart will be designing the CCI 2*, CIC2*, CIC1* and EV105, mentored by Mike. The work load is more than expected- but as Stuart has amazing attention to detail we hope that all the riders will be pleased to have him on board.

After Sydney CCI*** (27th/28th April) we will concentrate on events for the rest of the team horses. We also have some clinics along the way and then Melbourne 3DE in early June.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our long time sponsors CopRice, Bates, Horseland, Ceva- Nature Vet, Ecomist, Kingsland and HIDEZ suits. We have come a long way in this sport and without those who support us we would not be here to enjoy the riches. (Just have to add what a fabulous Horseland catalogue – and those models- where did you find so many good looking people!)

Not forgetting our owners: Tim Game, John and Jane Pittard, Corinna and Darren Huskinson – Thank you for your belief in us as a team and we hope to continue with success and reward.

Thanks to Amy for getting us out of a bind this past month – proving that the replacement of Georgia and Hannah has been somewhat hard and VERY frustrating! We have now found a very competent groom with Cara Brewer, mind you we went through a few!!
