Heading to Aachen

World Equestrian Festival Aachen

Next stop is the bright lights and big arena at Aachen

I have been a bit quiet on the blog because during my stay in Lastrup, things are business as usual. I find there is always the weighing up of what to include in a blog, and as this trip is my first experience with being able to instantly share with lots of people what is happening on the other side of the world.

Tomorrow we go to Aachen. I am waiting to hear that Jade and Liz have arrived there after being diverted to Turkey after a passenger was ill.

This morning we did a bit of a stud tour. The thing that strikes me most other than the quality of horses, is the sheer scale of this business and others like it. There would have to be over 250 stables (guessing) and probably 15 to 20 staff across the breeding and breaking as well as the dressage and jumping barns (all of which are separate). There would be 5 indoor arenas, 2 walking machines, 2 outdoor arenas as well as 9 or 10 stable complexes.

Other than that it is packing up again getting ready to go to the last competition for this trip.
