Osberton International (1) Horse Trials has ‘amazing ground’ says BEDE Events’ Stuart Buntine and the going is ‘fantastic’ for this week’s event that runs from 3rd – 5th May.

This is the first time that an event has been run here at this time of year but the big Osberton International (now 2!) in October is still a highlight of the calendar in October, where many of the Leagues being run throughout the year will culminate.

Replacing the Rockingham Castle fixture, Osberton (1) has a CCI3*-S, CCI2*-S and CCIP2*-S as its international classes, which mainly run on Friday and Saturday with Novice to Advanced Intermediate also on Saturday. These national level classes see the return of several riders just returned from competing away from home with Kentucky winner Oliver Townend and Tim and Jonelle Price, just back from France where they had a run around Olympic course designer Pierre Le Goupil’s CCI4*-L track at Saumur, no doubt getting a feel of what is to come in a few months.

On Sunday, the BE100, Novice and 6 Year Old Horse class take centre stage.

Course designer Stuart Buntine promises that the courses will follow different routes to those in October through the Osberton Estate parkland and woodland, which is on beautifully sandy ground, so fingers crossed for a full few days of eventing after so many cancellations and abandonments.
