Stuart on John and Jane Pittard's Annapurna
Our main focus in May was Equestriad CIC (at Camden) where we took 9 horses, Stuart riding 7 and Jaymee and Gemma riding their horses Sydney and King - it was a very exhausting weekend. The event was HUGE- not sure how the committee get it done but we must congratulate them- if only there had been some recent rain as the going was a bit firm.
Stuart was pleased with all his rides. In the CIC*** it was great to have Annapurna out and about after a short spell (she had sprung a shoe and managed to stand on 2 nails, putting her out for 10 days prior) Pluto looked fabulous all weekend as too did Stuart’s catch ride Taurus- Stuart took it slow across country as the ground was hard. With the Melbourne International 3DE looming (and selections for WEG) it was best to give the horses a nice gallop but we ended up with Taurus 3rd, Pluto 7th and Anna 10th.

War Hawk (above) took himself to 5th in the CIC** - he is certainly looking established at this level. Lansina was doing her first CIC* to finish 12th and Jaymee stepped up into CIC** (the first time for 2 years) and went slow and steady finishing 12th.
Both Gemma (on King, above left) and Jaymee (on Sydney, above right) can compete at 2* now
Gemma completed her CIC* (1st Junior) which now qualifies her for 2 Star so both Mum and Dad are now feeling a little nervous that both girls are at that level! Susie Clapton's Wyandah Rolly did his first EV105 to come 4th and her lovely mare Dalinea competed at her first ever event EV80. They are certainly both lovely horses from the Wyandah Stud.

Yes, you will be able to ride in the new suits!
May also saw the launch of the HIDEZ 'Active suit'. We are huge fans of the HIDEZ horse compression suits and use them regularly, mainly pre and post strenuous exercise and travel. With research and development HIDEZ have now made a suit you can ride in! Not unlike human skins that athletes wear during their training. We have been trialling the new suits, so stay tuned for our opinion on them.

In the meantime with Melbourne 3DE coming we plan to travel both Pluto and Anna in the suits plus use them for recovery in Melbourne- anyone who would like to talk to us about the suits, don't hesitate to come see us and maybe trial one!!
May is the month that Gemma most looks forward to, Coona Horse Expo. This is an Interschool's event held in Coonabarabran and we go every year - a bonanza of horse events. 750 horses, over 500 competitors, yes it’s huge and lots of fun- but not this year! King pulled up a little sore after his run at Equestriad so we choose to let him recover and Gemma went into twice daily training on one of our new imports (Karen's import Carlchen) who is a super horse and quite rideable. With show jump days and XC training under our belt, Gemma was all set on her new ride. After a long 6 hour drive to Coona we arrive to have a ride and one night to find Carl with an eye ulcer! So we pack up with no competing for the drive home to the vets!
Gemma did however find some time to chop some wood for the fire, under strict guidance of course.
Calendar:
11/12/13th July: Quirindi CCI** War Hawk
15/16th July (Tuesday/Wed) OR 19/20th: Sydney Eventing at SIEC: EV105 Queen Mary, Carlchen, Wyandah
Rolly and EV80 Dalinea
Again we would like to thank all our owners and sponsors for their continued support, you allow us to do the best job we can with the horses we all love! This month a special thanks to Amy our groom- or should I say 'SUPER Groom!' We love having you back (nearly as much as the horses do!!)
All the best
