Shane Rose wins inaugural Alltech Equine Advantage Series

As well as making a bid for his berth on the Australian team for Normandy 2014, Shane Rose won a trip for two to Normandy as winner of the Alltech Equine Advantage Series final at Sydney International Horse Trials

In thanking Alltech Australia for the great prize he had just accepted as the winner of the Alltech Equine Advantage Series, Shane Rose had to say that he was still hoping to be going to Normandy under his own steam as part of the Australian eventing team. On the other, Justine Donohoe and Scott Lawlor the owners of Contenda, the stallion on which he won the prize are looking forward to a marvellous trip in August.

Shane was on top of the AEA Series leader board at the end of 2013 and had qualified for the final on two horses, Contenda and APH Rusalka but only Contenda contested the final at the Sydney International Horse Trials. During 2013 Alltech sponsored a series of five events in which the riders who had nominated for the series picked up points and bonus prize money for placings. The final was held as a part of the Alltech CIC2*class at Sydney and, although the class was won by Judy Clarke riding Diablito, Shane’s second place on Contenda won him the Alltech Equine Advantage Series and an all expenses trip for two to Normandy courtesy of the 2014 World Equestrian Games’ title sponsor, Alltech.

Series Update after Round 5 at Baxter Boots NSW State Championships, Lynton, Goulburn

Thirteen combinations have qualified for the final of the Alltech Equine Advantage Series and one of the above thirteen riders will win a trip to the Alltech FEI World Equestrian GamesTM 2014 as a guest of the title sponsor, Alltech.

The final leg was held at the Baxter Boots NSW State Championships at Lynton Horse Trials in Goulburn where Natalie Davies and Tallara Barwick both shot up the rankings with a win in the Alltech CIC1* for Tallara riding the talented young horse Copabella Verdi and Victorian Nat Davies taking second place on the up and coming Chatswood Captivate (below).

Natalie Davies and Chatswood Captivate

These two girls are now both qualified for the final in April 2014 and could give top guns Shane Rose and Stuart Tinney a run for their money. Shane finished third in the class at Goulburn on Fantastic Mr Fox but it was his ninth place on the nominated horse Contenda that picked up an extra point, keeping him well in front on the leader board. Eleanor Osborne was the only other Series rider in this class at Goulburn and, although sadly eliminated on cross country, picked up one point for competing.

The final scores on the leader board for the five events held in 2013 determine the qualified riders, but the scores now go back to zero for the thrilling finale at the Sydney International Horse Trials from 25th – 27th April 2014*. The thirteen qualified combinations will be invited to compete in a 2* class at Sydney and the highest placed qualified combination will win the trip for two including flights, accommodation and tickets to the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in Normandy 2014 to a total value of approximately $10,000

The Alltech Equine Advantage Series qualifying rounds this year have been a great addition to the Australian eventing circuit and a financially rewarding one for the riders who, as well as qualifying for the grand prize, have picked up bonus prize money at each event. We’re looking forward to bringing you all the final action from Sydney in April and have heard a rumour that Alltech Australia are planning something else exciting in the Australian equestrian world  for 2014 – let’s hope it is in eventing!

To further the international excitement for the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games 2014 in Normandy, Alltech has created an exclusive sales and marketing program permitting 40 Alltech Official Partners from more than 33 countries, to differentiate their feeds with brand marks linked to the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games™ 2014 in Normandy. In Australia, the nominated feed partner is HyGain Feeds

Alltech’s abiding support of the horse and horse lover is also communicated through its Equine Heroes program, which recognizes those who go the extra mile to help others enjoy the fruits of their equine endeavours. Alltech’s Facebook page, Equine Hero, provides the opportunity to nominate heroes and share stories that celebrate all those who work behind the scenes to support the equestrian community. Maybe you know someone who deserves a mention as an Equine Hero?

*This is also when the winner of An Eventful Life’s trip for two to the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games will be drawn so, if you have missed out on competing in the Alltech Equine Advantage Series this year, you still have a chance to win a trip to Normandy without the help of your horse!

Series Update after Round 4 at Eventing Equestriad, Camden, September 2013

The tension is mounting in the Alltech Equine Advantage Series as we head to the last event of this year – the Baxter Boots Lynton Horse Trials in Goulburn on 19th and 20th October.

Shane Rose CP Qualified

Shane not only picked up points in the AEA Series on his 1* horses but won the 3* riding CP Qualified

The penultimate event in this year’s five part series took place at Eventing Equestriad in Camden on 21st and 22nd September. Shane Rose had flown back from the UK to not only organise but also ride at his home event with good results. With points gained on both Contenda and APH Rusalka Shane has shot into pole position with 16 points BUT he has now headed back to Europe and will not be able to participate in the final qualifying event.

However he will definitely be in the top 25 riders invited to participate in the 2* class at the Sydney International Horse Trials in 2014 where the riders will compete for the grand prize of a trip for two people to attend the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games 2014, Normandy, France, as guests of the title sponsor Alltech

His good friend and fellow Olympian, Stuart Tinney may steal the top position while Shane is away but Sarah Wheaton riding Ricochet Rocky has rocketed up the leader board to be hot on his heels. You can watch Sarah’s cross country round here

The fact is that one of these riders will be going to the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games 2014 as a guest of Alltech – wonder who it will be?

Results from Eventing Equestriad

Stuart Tinney still leads but his friend and fellow Olympian Shane Rose is sneaking up on him and no doubt Nat Blundell will be back for more events. The next leg of the Series takes place at Eventing Equestriad, Camden,NSW on 21st & 22nd September when we’ll be getting to the pointy end of the Alltech Equine Advantage Eventing Series

Series Update after Round 2 at Davcar Queensland International 3DE, March 2013

The second leg of the Alltech Equine Advantage Eventing Series was held at the Davcar Queensland International 3DE from 22nd-24th March 2013. Other riders participating in the Alltech CIC 1*as a part of the Series were Stephen Stacey, Tracey Kolb and Eleanor Osborne. Stephen was promoted from 7th to 6th post-event earning him 1 point and bonus prize money of $100 while Stuart picked up $450 bonus prize money for his second place.

Stuart is aiming to be part of the Australian team at the 2014 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in Normandy but the winner’s trip to the Games courtesy of Alltech would no doubt come in handy for a family member or owner if he is representing Australia. However there will be plenty of riders aiming to knock him off the leader’s spot in the remaining events.

Late entries are still open for the Series (see bottom of page) which now moves on to the Albury Wodonga International Horse Trials from 5th – 7th April.
