All six 4 Star events recieve 5 Star status for 2019

Six events have been allocated the new Five Star status from the FEI as of January 1st 2019

The proposition to alter the star system, accepted at the FEI General Assembly in 2017 but not effective until 2019, states that CCI competitions will now be referred to as CCI-L (for long) while CIC competitions will become CCI-S (for short). The existing levels are being increased by a single star - the existing One Star level becomes the Two Star level, the Two Star becomes the Three Star, the Three Star becomes the Four Star, and the CCI4* becomes the CCI5*-L.

The six events are the Land Rover Kentucky Three Day Event (USA), the Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials (GBR), the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials (GBR), the Longines Luhmühlen Horsetrials (GER), Les Etoiles de Pau (FRA) and the Mitsubishi Motors Australian International 3 Day Event (AUS)

The six events previously designated as CCI4* will be included as CCI5*-L in 2019 with the requirement to fulfil additional requirements over a period of 2 years and yearly reviews, including a Risk Management Assessment, will evaluate each event in regard to performance against the established criteria.
