EA Eventing Selection Policy for WEG 2014

Equestrian Australia has released the selection policy for the eventing team for WEG 2014 with the objective “to select athletes and horses who are able to achieve the best possible results at the 2014 World Equestrian Games. The term ‘best possible result’ encompasses both a team and an individual result”

Key dates/events in summary;

  • On or before 25 June 2014, the National Eventing Selection Panel (‘the NESP’) will select up to 18 horse and athlete combinations to be nominated to the FEI

 

  • On or before 23 July 2014, the NESP will select a Squad of 9 combinations (‘the WEG Squad’). The WEG Squad will be selected from the WEG Nominated Entries. The WEG Squad will comprise the six (6) combinations to compete at WEG (‘the WEG team’) plus three (3) reserve combinations (‘the WEG Reserves’) that will not be ranked in order.

 

  • Following the First Horse Inspection at the WEG, the NESP, in consultation with the NPD, will select (from the WEG team) four (4) team combinations and two (2) individual combinations (‘the WEG Individuals’) to represent Australia at the World Equestrian Games.
  • Nominated CCI – completed at least one of the following CCI***/****4 events in the period between 01 January 2014 to 30 June 2014:
  • 2014 Sydney CCI***;
  • 2014 Melbourne CCI***;
  • 2014 Saumur CCI***;
  • 2014 Badminton CCI****; or
  • 2012 Luhmuhlen CCI****
