Berrima Spring One Day Event - find out more here

A past CCI2* winner at the Australian International 3 Day Event, Andrew Barnett may not be heading to Adelaide this year but his up and coming horses horses are certainly on good form

His new team of horses, comprising of the two seven-year olds, Perfect Partner and Go Tosca and the eight-year-old Bradgate Park Galileo, have been chopping and changing places in recent times but between them they have picked up three wins, two seconds, a third and two 12th places at 1* level since August

The wins have included back to back CIC1* titles at the NSW State Championships, Goulburn and Albury International for Perfect Partner but it was Go Tosca that added to the winning tally in the Centennial Vineyards CNC1* at the Berrima Horse Trials Spring One Day Event at Araluen in the Southern Highlands of NSW

Andrew and Go Tosca led after the dressage on a score of 26.8 ahead of Kim Leibowitz on the nine-year-old Widgee Total Tribute, winner of the EvA105B at Goulburn (28.2) now making his way up the grades, and Hamish Cargill riding Coopers Crossing (29.3). All three finished on their dressage scores with Andrew also scoring a win in the Bucas Rugs EvA95-A riding Estrella Remarkablez

Andrew’s pupil and the winners of the 2* at Goulburn, Grace Kay led the CNC1.5* riding Celerity Park Faberge after the dressage on a very good score of 26.3 and then show jumped clear but obviously opted for a canter around Araluen, adding 16 time penalties for an eventual third place. Emma Mason and Aramatai Fox (32.70), second after the dressage are a combination that will be competing in the CCI2* in Adelaide next week and they too show jumped clear but withdrew from the cross country. No doubt ‘legal eagle’ Emma will be out to defend her 2017 Australian International 3 Day Event 2* title, having won there on board Warrego Marco Polo

That left 20-year-old Olivia Lalak with the chance to win and she took it. Moving up from fifth after the dressage with a fast and clear cross country ride, Olivia and the 13 year old grey thoroughbred gelding Contador added just 0.4 time penalties and had a good confidence building ride after a bit of a whoopsie weekend in the 2* cross country at Albury recently

Congratulations to all class winners and we’re looking forward to watching some great cross country footage coming up soon!
