Defending champion Sam Griffiths will be heading back to Badminton again this year with the Irish bred mare Paulank Brockagh and will also be bringing Happy Times on board the new lorry that last year’s win made possible! Sam is joined by fellow Australians Chris Burton (TS Jamaimo), Andrew Hoy (Lanfranco and Rutherglen), Bill Levett (Shannondale Titan), Kevin McNab (Clifton Pinot) and Paul Tapner (Indian Mill and Kilronan).
The majority of riders are British and represent the cream of British eventing with names such as William Fox-Pitt, Nicola Wilson, Francis Whittington, Oliver Townend and Pippa Funnell while Bettina Hoy, Ingrid Klimke and Claas Herman, the 22 year old son of 2008 Olympic champion Hinrich Romeike will be representing Germany
New Zealand currently has 16 on the list but this includes Clarke Johnstone and Balmoral Sensation, who have already declared that they will be withdrawing due to a minor paddock accident which has upset their training schedule. Nine Irish combinations are listed, four from France, three from the Netherlands and one from Brazil, Ecuador, Sweden and Italy
