Cross Country Video of the Week - Alex Bragg and Zagreb

It was maybe fitting that Alex Bragg retired his top horse Zagreb (Rhett) in October, the month of Les Etoiles de Pau where Zagreb had finished in the top five of the CCI5* on four occasions

On 13th October 2021, Alex announced on social media that

“We have made the decision that Zagreb (Rhett) will step down from top level competition. He is my true partner in crime! My best friend! We have so many fabulous memories and I’m happy to say he will still be able to provide us a few more.

He’s fit and well and will continue to event with my eldest daughter at a lower level, which will bring much pleasure to me and Simmone, as well as his forever loyal owners, Sally and Philip Ellicott. I need say no more, Rhett, you’re an absolute Legend!”

As well as their four top five finishes at Pau, Alex and Zagreb also took third place in the CCI5* at Luhmuhlen in 2019 and enjoyed a host of wins and placings at CCI4* level, including a win in the Event Rider Masters at Jardy in 2018 and second place at Burnham Market International 2019 (see video above)

The 17.2h 17-year-old Zagreb has already started his new career with Alex’s daughter Elloise, finishing sixth in the BE100 Open U18 class at Bovington and we hope to be filming the new combination for many years to come!
