Double Olympic gold medallist eventing horse Darien Powers will be inducted into the EA Hall of Fame in the Outstanding Horse category on Friday June 5th in Melbourne

The big grey thoroughbred/Warmblood cross Darien Powers, by the stallion Christophle, was bred in Victoria, originally destined for the show ring, winning a stallion class as a youngster at Melbourne Royal before being gelded. He was then evented by Bob Scarborough to pre-novice level before the ride was handed to Andrew Hoy.

Andrew won two Olympic Gold medals on Darien Powers in both the Eventing team competition at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games and on home soil at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games.

Darien Powers and Andrew won gold in Atlanta when the horse was only 8 years old but produced faultless showjumping round and a near perfect score in cross country. He then did it again in Sydney in 2000 in front of a home crowd and also won the 1997 British Open title.
