Fork Horse Trials, USA
Talking of the USA, although he doesn’t ride for Australia anymore, we still like to follow Phillip Dutton, especially when he’s riding the lovely Australian horse Mystery Whisper. Despite being a new combination, they are certainly on a roll and took out the CIC 3* at Fork Horse Trials this weekend. To watch video of their rides check out the following;
Dressage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TJAOCgvtH40&feature=youtu.be
Cross Country http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Qnqj95mVZw&feature=youtu.be
Showjumping: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j90pROx9VJ8&feature=youtu.be
Mystery Whisper seems to be Phillip’s preferred ride for the Olympics despite the fact they are not yet qualified, so the aim is to do that at the Jersey Fresh CCI3*. In a huge compliment to Mystery Whsper’s previous jockey ( and Grand Prix dressage rider), Heath Ryan, Phillip commented on the US Eventing Association site that,
“It sort of brings home to me that I haven’t schooled my horses on the flat because this one is in a whole different league to the others in what he can do in the dressage. Certainly in London that would be a huge advantage. I think I would pick Mighty Nice if we were going to Badminton or something like that, but Mystery Whisper seems to be pretty suited to the London Games. There are still another couple of months to go so we will see.”
Meanwhile over in the UK.................
Larkhill, UK
Paul Tapner was delighted with the grey gelding Inishmor who won the BE100 Section A. Paul was obviously happy saying,
“Inishmor proved how well he has adapted into the sport as he WON today on a score of 23!!! In only his second ever event!”
Sam Griffiths also had two lovely looking young horses there, Opposition Angel One and Opposition Angel Two; for a good report on Larkhill and photos of Paul and Sam, check out http://blog.talkinghorse.net/2012/04/bright-breezy-at-larkhill.html#more
Burnham Market International Horse Trials, UK
Burnham Market is one of the most important pre-Badminton events on the British circuit so it was a promising win for Clayton Fredericks on Waltersdown Don.
Clayton led the two CIC3* sections after dressage on Bendigo III and Walterstown Don, who went on to win Section D on a final score of 49.3, just ahead of Piggy French and DHI Topper W and Lucy Jackson of New Zealand in third place riding Animator II
Clayton’s horses Dunge’s Laurent Rosé and Be My Guest competed in the dressage phase on Friday; both of these horses were withdrawn at the showjumping phase, as was Bendigo
Bill Levett rode One Two Many NJ and Hippolyte in the dressage and show jumping phases but withdrew before cross country as planned. Bill also took 8th place in the Advanced section on Shannondale Titan
British riders dominated CIC3* Section C with Oliver Townend winning on Pepper Anne finishing just 1.3 penalties ahead of Cumbrian Ruth Edge with her seasoned campaigner Two Thyme on 50.3 and Georgie Davies took third placed with Orlando on 51.2.
