Family Day at the Yarra Valley Polo Tournament

The Yarra Valley Polo Club hosted 11 polo teams, over 100 horses and 1000 spectators at their tournament on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th March.  ‘Flowerfield’, the home of the Lithgow family since 1854 looked superb with two fields in action.

‘The weather could not have been better, the teams were competitive, the spectators enjoyed watching the game and children could even enjoy pony rides – which all made up a very successful tournament”  said Julie Sampson, club Secretary.

The Flowerfield Cup was won by Bruce Falk Property with two players from the UK, Sam Gardiner and Jack Berner along with Tim Olden and Clem Mann. The Coldstream Cup presented by RACV was won by Keystone with Antony Spielvogel, Matt O’Leary, Kati Matthisson and Justine Henwood and the low goal President’s Trophy was won by Hexham with Arthur Yencken, Danny Daher, Dan Maisand and John Oswald Jacobs.

“The players look forward to the Yarra Valley Polo Club Tournament as it is towards the end of the season and the Polo Party on the Saturday night is a place where players and friends can let their hair down along with a fierce competition on the field” said Julie Sampson.

Noelene Ford a member of the Victorian Polo Club agreed “It was a fantastic weekend and I had never ridden so hard and fast before, really enjoyed it and you guys do a great job to pull it all together. Can't wait till next year”
