Jesse Campbell and Georgie Strang marry

A beautiful white wedding for New Zealand’s Jesse Campbell and Britain’s Georgie Strang made it official despite Covid-19 restrictions

The eventing power couple tied the knot on Saturday the 12th of December 2020 at the Holy Cross Church in the Wiltshire village of Ramsbury.

In a ceremony reflecting Covid restrictions, just 15 friends and family were in attendance on the couple’s big day - a far cry from the originally planned event, which would have hosted 150 guests on November 7th.

Over the course of 2020, the pandemic forced the pair to reinvent their original plans with several venue changes and numbers having to be cut back.  When the UK’s second lockdown was announced, a new date also had to be found.

“In spite of everything, we said we wanted to be married this year” says Georgie “We’ll plan to have a big party as well as a trip back to New Zealand as soon as we are able”

“The restrictions meant it was much more intimate than it might otherwise have been. The highlight was still seeing Georgie walking the aisle” says Jesse.

Both have enjoyed a stellar 2020 eventing season, despite the Covid setbacks.

The 10-year-old gelding Red Hot Cooley stepped up to 4* after his second win at Advanced for Georgie who also had great success with youngster Darcy De La Rose, taking fourth place in the British Eventing 7-year-old Championship at Osberton International

Jesse had a fantastic campaign at Lignieres in the CCI4*L with Amsterdam and Diachello finishing in 13th and fourth places respectively.

The pair say a rebrand to Campbell Eventing and a possible switch from Team GB to Team NZ for Georgie is on the cards, as they continue to work side by side.

The numbers of attendees may have been limited but we did spot some well-known eventing identities with Tom McEwen and Ludwig Svennerstal in the photos below! Congratulations to the stunning couple and we'll be catching up with them again very soon for a feature article .....
