Happy National Eventing Hug Day

Happy National Hug Day!

In 1986 Kevin Zaborney nominated January 21st as National Hug Day in America and the happy annual event is now observed in many countries

The idea of National Hug Day is to encourage people to hug each other more often (wisely Zaborney cautions to ask first if one is unsure of the response), engendering warmth and friendliness. It can also be good for you health, releasing those marvellous oxytocins to make you feel good and reduce stress

There are apparently five different hugs we all use in everyday life – The Back to Front Hug, The Bear Hug, The Cheek Hug, The Side to Side Hug and The Heart Centred Hug

Eventers seem to have all of these down pat and there is no doubt about it – people in this sport love to hug! And not just each other but their horses too, of course

We have literally hundreds of hugging shots but here are some of our favourites from the past year ... how many huggers can you name?
