TTT Horse Trials - What's in a name?

Last year's winners were called "6 Feet in the Air". This year the Bulla ARC team is fittingly called "Defending Champions"

One of the unusual features of the HRCAV TTT Horse Trials Championships is that the teams create their own names which are often a lot more descriptive than their club name

For example the competitors from Bulla Adult Riding Club (the host club and last year’s winners) are riding under the team name Defending Champions but some are bit more  tongue in cheek and they really shows the level of fun involved as well as the keen competition. I have no doubt that, whatever their results, the people who came up with these names will enjoy themselves

Just thought I would share some of my favourite names for the teams competing this weekend;

2 Chicks and an Old Guy (Sunbury Riding Club)

Fat Arse Wombat (Trentham)

Where’s Wyena? (Wyena Adult Riding Club, not surprisingly)

Bags on Nags (Lakes Riding Club)

We’ve Waited All Year For This (Monash ARC – hope they’re not disappointed)

Buln Buln Butt Knickers (Buln Buln East EC – can’t wait to see what they wear)

And, maybe particularly apt for cross country,

Shi**in’ Bricks (Ballarat ARC – my asterisks)

There is also a team called Fun in the Sun (Dunolly HAC) – not sure how many events they’ve attended in Victoria in winter.

I do like this concept and think it may be worth bringing to the attention of the organisers of the London 2012 Olympic Games.  I wonder what the Australian team would be called?
