Blyth Tait and Bettina Hoy at Melbourne International 2022

It is always great to catch up with legends of our sport, especially those we haven’t seen for a while due to Covid restrictions

Blyth Tait’s visit to the Melbourne International 3 Day Event as Chef d’Equipe for the New Zealand Senior Team at the Oceania Championships was his first foray outside of New Zealand for a while but he hopes to be visiting the UK and Italy later in the year for Burghley and the World Championships in Pratoni Del Vivaro

Pratoni is a very special place for Blyth as he won his second World Championship title there in 1998 on board Ready Teddy and his return later this year will be his first visit since the memorable event.

It seems unlikely that there is a comeback on the agenda, even though both Blyth and Bettina Hoy, who was a very welcome addition to our interview, were so impressed by Shenae Lowings’ winning 4* horse Bold Venture, that they may consider sharing the ride …..
