In this interview with Talking Horse in the UK, Australian rider Andrew Hoy talks about his current bid to become the U.S. Equestrian Federation Eventing Technical Advisor/Chef d’Equipe. In the interview he talks about how Bettina’s expertise would be of help however, unlike fellow Aussie Phillip Dutton who is also applying for the job, Andrew is not applying for the role jointly with Bettina.
Bobby Costello and Phillip Dutton are applying as a team , with Costello in the chef d’équipe position and Dutton as technical advisor. US Equestrian Federation President David O’Connor has also thrown his hat in the ring to take over the position held by Capt. Mark Phillips who has held the job since 1993 but will retire at the end of 2012.
This interview with Andrew provides some insightful comments about his approach to competition and training. Towards the end of the interview he also discusses the Australian team coaching position which, at that time, was still open.
