Interview with Sarah Harris, High Performance Director, ESNZ

“I think we’re going in stronger in terms of horse power than we did for the London Olympics” says Sarah Harris, of the New Zealand eventing team aiming for medals at the 2014 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games

Sarah is the High Performance Director of Equestrian Sports New Zealand who has worked closely with the New Zealand eventing coach, Erik Duvander in recent years to succesfully implement a long term plan to ‘close the gap to the podium’. With New Zealand’s bronze medal winning success at London 2012, the aim now is to ‘dominate the podium’ and Sarah tells us more about their strategies for senior and junior riders in the UK and at home.

We also find out a little more about this succesful female Sports Director who enjoys being surrounded by talented and experienced ‘boys’ such as Sir Mark Todd and Andrew Nicholson but who has yet to match her father’s gold medal as Chef d’Equipe at the Los Angeles Olympic Games
