Niklas Lindbäck interview

Niklas and Cendrillon at Boekelo 2013

Niklas Lindbäck, one of Sweden’s best known eventing riders was recently in Australia to enjoy some sunshine, catch up with friends and conduct a clinic in Victoria (during which the sun decided not to oblige!). Niklas may not be a household name in Australia but he is top class rider and great coach who has not had a lot of luck in 2014.

In the past he has represented Sweden on various occasions including the 2012 London Olympic Games where the Swedish team placed fourth and the 2013 European Championships where Sweden won silver and Niklas was placed fourth individually riding Mr Pooh. This very talented horse was the winner of the 6 Year Old Championship at Le Lion d’Angers in 2006 and was chosen with Niklas as part of the Swedish squad heading to the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games but the discovery of a heart infection after Aachen stopped their 2014 Championship hopes in their tracks

However Mister Pooh is now ready to come back to top level competition in 2015 along with Niklas’ mare Cendrillon and Niklas is going to be busy over winter in Sweden catching up on lost time, as he tells us in the interview below “ If we want to be better we have to work hard .... we want to gain a little bit on everyone else, we hope they’re feeling comfortable and having a little rest over the winter so we can catch up”

We’ll be bringing you more from the clinic with Niklas’ training tips and advice on working with young horses in future articles
