Prue Barrett talks about WEG

Prue Barrett watches the show jumping at WEG with sidelined team member Chris Burton and Shane Rose's groom Lauren

Debbie Higgs caught up with Prue Barrett, the Eventing National Performance Director for Equestrian Australia for a quick wrap up of her thoughts about the Australian team performance at the recent Alltech World Equestrian Games in Normandy

“We need to focus on the positives” says Prue, pointing out that Australia was the only country to get every team member home on cross country day

Prue talks about the importance of winning medals for funding, selection policies and squads for Rio and why the future looks good for eventing in Australia

“Back here in Australia you have the Stuarts, the Shanes, the Megans and the Sonjas  .... they’re the ones you still have to beat and they are as good as any riders in the world. That’s what brings the sport on and as soon as those ones get taken out of national competition, there’s no-one to knock off the perch”
