Shenae Lowings interview

Shenae and Ballyhoo through the last fence at Adelaide

It seems that 19 year old Shenae Lowings likes to finish the eventing year on a high note.

Last year she won both the CCI1*YR and the CCI2* at Lakes and Craters in December and this year she brought her two top horses to the Australian International 3 Day Event. Sadly she had to withdraw the 12 year old Venture Sky High after the dressage in Adelaide but her off the track 10 year old gelding Ballyhoo finished tenth in the CCI2* and third in the CCI2* Young Rider class

She also competed in the Exhibition Eventing Grand Final in Adelaide on Parkiarrup Peregrine, a horse owned by her coach Sonja Johnson, to finish second, jumping clear just 0.14 seconds behind the winner Megan Jones, who finished closer to the optimum time

It has been a big year for the young Western Australian rider, including her first team cap as part of the Australian Young Rider team at the Oceania Championships in Taupo; she tells us about her first experience of the event in Adelaide and her plans for the future
