In Memoriam: Mrs Jackie Murray

      Lucinda Fredericks and Headley Britannia

It is with great sadness that we learn of the passing of Mrs Jackie Murray, on Thursday 15th October.

She was well known in the eventing community for her unwavering support of her daughter, British-born Australian Olympian, Lucinda Fredericks (née Murray). In addition for her passion for eventing, Jackie also owned one of Lucinda's eventers, Azupa Gazelle, who went on to become a grand prix dressage horse.

Lucinda commented: “Mrs Murray [as she liked to be called!] was always an amazing support to me from the very beginning; I would never have fought my way to the top without her.

“My daughter Ellie made us smile when she said that ‘Grandma will be fine because she will be up in the ‘attic’ with Brit (the 4* winning mare Headley Britannia)."

Former BE Chief Executive Mike Etherington-Smith commented: “Jackie was a terrific lady who has been a familiar and popular face on the circuit for many years, totally supporting Lucinda throughout her competition years. She had a huge amount of friends across the sport and will be missed”

Our thoughts are with Lucinda and the Murray family at this very sad time.

Service information will be posted in due course
