The winners of the inaugural 2016 Mitsubishi Motors Cup, the new eventing championship for amateur riders which takes over from the Mitsubishi Grassroots Championship, will receive a brand new Mitsubishi Shogun for a year, prize money, trophy and commemorative plaque to keep.

The Mitsubishi Grassroots Championships, started in 2009, has attracted over six thousand amateur equestrians eligible to enter the championship each year with 1000 reaching the regional events for fewer than 100 places at BE90 and BE100 level

As with the Grassroots Championships, the new Mitsubishi Motors Cup will take place at BE90 and BE100 level on the grounds of the Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials during the same week as the major championship. As well as the car the two winners, along with the runners’ up, are also offered licence to use the Mitsubishi brand name in association with their horses’ names, to commemorate their victory, add prestige and perhaps help attract potential sponsorship. Other support extended to them will include coaching at BE clinics, the use of VIP facilities at the finals, access to professional advice and equipment, and branded merchandise.

A new logo has been designed for the Mitsubishi Motors Cup incorporating the rider number (253) of Ms. Alexandra Farrar-Fry, who was the final and concluding BE100 winner of the Mitsubishi Grassroots Championship.
