Burto breaks record

Chris and Santano II at Rockingham

Chris Burton has set a new international dressage score at Camphire International Horse Trials in Ireland

According to EquiRatings, Chris’ score of 24.5 is the lowest CCI2* score awarded at this level of competition - America’s Kim Severson riding Cooley Cross Border at Ocala (2015) and Michael Jung riding River of Joy at Compiègne (2010) previously held the lowest score on 30.9

Riding Santano II, an eight year old gelding by Sandro Hit owned by the Black Run Syndicate ( so called due to their love of ski-ing) leads the CCI2* ahead of Britain’s Ros Canter on Cekatinka (35.0) and  Cooley Lands ridden by Chris again (38.1). The judges were Prue Spurrett (AUS) and Yvonne Monaghan (IRE)

Santano and Chris are no strangers to low scores; at their first outing together in March 2014 they scored 16.5 in the BE90 Open and won the Intermediate at South of England (1) this year, having added only two time cross country penalties to their dressage score of 27.1
