Eventing rider Shane Rose has been named as one of the finalists in the NSW Sports Awards that will be announced at a celebratory gala dinner on Thursday, 18 February 2016

Shane will be up against some stiff competition in a line-up of finalists for the NSW Athlete of the Year that includes Jessica Fox (Canoeing), Adam Goodes (Australian Football), Kim Green (Netball), Shane Rose (Equestrian), Steve Smith (Cricket) and Sam Stosur (Tennis). All have excelled both on a National and International level in their chosen in 2015 and reside in NSW

Shane produced a strong year of performances but it hasn’t all been easy sailing for the very popular rider who is also the President of NSW Eventing and runs one of the biggest events in Australia – Equestriad at Camden. In early June he incurred a serious injury involving broken ribs, a punctured lung and damaged liver during a fall from a young horse and had to take a lengthy break from riding to recuperate (listen to our interview with Shane regarding his fall and recovery)

Despite that in November he topped off the year with a rare first and second in the CCI4* at the Australian International 3 Day Event putting him into the top five eventing riders on the FEI World Ranking to finish the year on a high note
