Ten out of ten for Oliver Townend at Burnham Market

Oliver Townend and Cooley Master Class win the CIC3* at Burnham Market for the second year running

Oliver Townend scored an historic win in the CIC3* at the Barefoot Estates Burnham Market Horse Trials today, winning his tenth title in ten years. Although Oliver did not win in 2011, he did win two 3* titles in one year, giving him an enviable record at Burnham Market

“This is an event we aim to do well at” admits Oliver “I trust the ground, I trust the designer, I trust everything about the place which is why we bring the horses we are aiming at bigger things throughout the year”

He not only won the 3* class on Cooley Master Class (40.2) but also finished eighth on Arctic Mouse and 11th on Ballaghmor Class while Piggy French, who is having a very strong start to the season, finished second on Vanir Kamira (42.8) and the dressage leader Andrew Nicholson on Byrnesgrove First Diamond finished in third (45.6)

 

      Sarah Cohen and Treason

 

In the CIC2* Sarah ‘Cutty’ Cohen won on board the experienced Treason who she put into the 2* to ease them into the season

“I was expecting to be competitive but I wasn’t expecting to win. He just felt fantastic”

They finished on their dressage score of 37.2, depriving Emily King of her first international win and relegating her to second place riding Walitze F Vejgard (39.2) while Nini French and Time For Harry were third on 40.6
