Tokyo 2020 ticketing and volunteer updates

Measures being taken in the wake of the postponement of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games include the re-organisation of Volunteers and Ticketing

Tokyo 2020 has provided information outlining their plans in these areas

Volunteers

•We had secured the total number of volunteers required, having sent out notifications to each regarding their prospective roles and venues at the beginning of March, and had received confirmation from most of them.

•We will ask those who already confirmed they would participate for their contribution towards the rescheduled Games next year, on the basis that they will have the same roles and venues as currently allocated (where there are changes, these will be communicated)

•As soon as the new dates and venues are confirmed, we will reconfirm the volunteers’ participation as quickly as possible.

Tickets

In principle we will work on measures to ensure that purchased tickets will be valid for the corresponding rescheduled events.

•Once the new dates are set, upon request we plan to issue refunds in respect of the face value of tickets for ticketholders who will find it difficult or impossible to attend events because of the change of dates or venues.

•We will suspend plans to deliver tickets from May 2020 onwards.

•We will suspend the spring ticket sales programme that was scheduled from April 2020.

•We are currently considering how to handle the numbered ticket postcard lottery and will announce this in due course.
