Geoff Sinclair new Chair of FEI Risk Management Steering Group

The FEI Bureau held an in-person meeting at FEI Headquarters in Lausanne (SUI) on 18 and 19 June where, amongst other issues, the Bureau approved changes to the Eventing Risk Management Steering Group (RMSG), including the extension of its terms of reference to allow the Group to investigate in the event of a serious accident.

The Eventing Risk Management Policy and Action Plan aimed at reducing cross-country horse falls was launched at the third annual FEI Safety meeting in Malmö, Sweden in 2011. Since then the aim to reduce risk and falls within the sport has become a key focus around the world headed by the Risk Management Steering Group

David O’Connor, who was elected Chair of the FEI Eventing Committee at last year’s General Assembly, will now stand down as Chair of the Risk Management Steering Group. He will be replaced as Chair by Geoff Sinclair (AUS), who was already a member.

Geoff is an experienced FEI Eventing Technical Delegate who is active within the sport at many levels both internationally and at home in Australia and is also the former President of the Equestrian Australia

Gert Naber (NED) and Jonathan Holling (USA) were approved as new members of the Group
