How to jump a drop fence

We’re sure that the lunge whip Chris carried was designed to scare the riders more than the horses!

“You don’t have to lean back over a drop fence,” says Chris Burton “you just have to stay at a 90 degree angle to the earth … gravity is your friend.”

Now let's take a look at the position some of Chris' students demonstrated over a drop fence

Let's start off with a small drop

   Pick those knees up

Looking good with a great lower leg

The horse looks down the rider looks up

   Well done and great balance

We land and can now focus on the next fence

This little horse just took the drop in his stride

Again great leg and body position

So now you are inspired - get out there and practise some drop fences with your coach!
