Jumping training for angled skinny fences

With 50 penalties at risk for missing the flags on skinny fences on cross country, the skill of getting your horse to consistently ‘lock on’ to skinny fences, particularly angled jumps, is becoming all important to perfect

Australian show jumping coach and rider Paula Hamood demonstrates some exercises in this video that are perfect for helping to develop straightness and improve your jumping on angles. It can work equally well in an arena or out on cross country (just take your wings and poles with you and put on undulating terrain for added difficulty and you could also add flags for extra certainty)

Keep practising until you completely trust to your horse to ‘lock on’ and never fear those 50 penalties again
