Can you help La Trobe University with a study that is currently being conducted exploring individual differences in the characteristics of equestrian event riders and the relationship these characteristics have with performance in eventing?

The results of this study have the potential to shed light on a field where there is little empirical knowledge by identifying and exploring the factors that are detrimental to performance in equestrian event riders (such as stress, anxiety, coping, achievement orientation, or attention capacity).  Moreover, knowledge of these factors could reduce the risks associated with human error such as those identified within the Attentional Control Theory.  The reduction of stress and better performing riders will lead to safer performances from horses improving ethical practices within this potentially dangerous sport.

This study asks participants to access and complete an online survey. The survey consists of a demographic questionnaire and 5 tests assessing individual differences, which will take approximately 45 minutes to complete.  At the end of the survey you will be asked to nominate a competition in the near future where you will report on your performance in a post competition online survey.  Once you have completed the survey your submission of test results will indicate that you are voluntarily consenting to participate in the research project.  As indicated, participants will then be asked to complete a post competition online questionnaire assessing competition performance and some further factors considered attributable to performance outcomes, which will take approximately 5-10 minutes to complete.
