National and International Eventing Rules and Changes

Are you up to date with the national and international changes to eventing and associated rules for 2013? Here are three you need to be aware of  including the recently changed Equestrian Australia Eventing rules

FEI Eventing Rules 2013

With 30% increase in the number of events held across the world in recent years, the FEI rules and regulations have undergone a much needed examination and update. At the 2013 International Eventing Forum (IEF), Catrin Norinder and Giuseppe Della Chiesa ran through the modifications that have been made to the FEI Eventing rules.

The aim of the changes has been to make the rules more accessible and simple to follow. Outdated references to terms such as the steeple chase have been removed.

The updated version of the Eventing Rules can be found here: http://www.fei.org/disciplines/eventing/rules

FEI Veterinary Regulations

John McEwan and Graeme Cooke also took time at the IEF to run through the changes that have been made to the Veterinary regulations. The veterinary regulations are revised once every four years and with the sport being so closely monitored by the government and welfare organizations, changes were needed.

The previous regulations were cumbersome and needed to be more professional and easy to read. “It’s about consistency and fairness to the horse,” Graeme said.
