Whisky or champagne at Blair Castle 2015?

It is going to be terribly hard to be a teetotaller at this year’s Longines FEI European Eventing Championship

The Championship, to be held at Blair Castle from 10-13 September, has welcomed on board one of the smallest single malt whisky distilleries in Scotland, Kilchoman (pronounced Kil-ho-man) Distillery, as a sponsor. Based on Islay, known as ‘The Queen of the Hebrides’, the distillery also grows its own barley on the farm, making it the only distillery to complete all parts of the whisky making process on site.

Each day a ‘Kilchoman Moment of the Day’ will be awarded during the Championships at Blair Castle and the winner will be presented with a bottle of their iconic 100% Islay whisky in the main arena. This prize will be awarded for anything from an exceptional moment on the field of play, through to an outstanding contribution by a spectator at the event, which could lead to some interesting ‘moments’

Kilchoman Distillery joins Champagne Pol Roger on the list of sponsors for the event so if your taste isn’t for a dram of the single malt then you could always sip on Winston Churchill’s favourite drop. His famous saying “In defeat I need it, in victory I deserve it” may well apply for many of the competitors during the major FEI Championship of this year. As for the spectators, they don’t need an excuse ...............
