William Fox-Pitt moving to Australia

April fool

We’re sorry to say that this is our fun for the day and our April Fool joke

Ever since Hamish Cargill’s article in September 2012, we have been thinking of how to lure the Fantastic Mr. Fox (Pitt) to ride for Australia so we couldn’t resist the temptation to make it real for one day. If it were to happen, this is how we think it may be reported (with our tongue firmly in our cheek);

William Fox-Pitt

“It seems that William Fox-Pitt’s visit to the Australian International 3 Day Event last year may have been one of relocation reconnaissance as well as in his role as HSBC Ambassador for the event.

William intends to move his family and team of horses to Australia in the near future. William’s wife Alice Plunkett, a well-known TV racing journalist and commentator in the UK is highly sought after to work for the Australian media - a reality TV programme dedicated to Black Caviar’s daily life, hosted by Alice is in the offing and rumour has it that William may ride Nelly in dressage after her retirement. The couple are also keen for their three children Thomas, Ollie and Chloe to experience an Australian upbringing with snakes and drought, rather than constant rain

The move is intended to be a long term one and the Fox-Pitt family are prepared for a change of nationality meaning that William could ride (if selected) for Australia. The only thing going against his selection for the Australian team is that he is not based in the UK

British Eventing was not available for comment at the time of writing but Equestrian Australia was ‘speechless’
