We’re heading to the 2024 Albury Horse Trials this weekend (25th and 26th May) at the Albury Wodonga Equestrian Centre where riders will be competing in classes from EvA60 to CCN2.5.

The Albury Wodonga Equestrian Association holds two events each year, with the national event in May and the Albury International Horse Trials in late October and, with the event held smack on the border between NSW and Victoria, many riders in the star classes this weekend will have an eye on the big winter event at the Melbourne International 3 Day Event in June.

This event at Albury provides the perfect preparation run for the long format classes there with several combinations opting for the Imperial Horse Floats CCN2.5* class, giving them a chance to polish up their 3* dressage test for Melbourne.

One of these is Teegan Ashby riding Magic Mushroom TAE, winner of the CCI3*-L at Melbourne International 3DE last year. Magic Mushroom also finished second in the CCI3*-S at Albury International in October 2023 but has only had one full run so far in 2024, and Teegan also has her Wandin CCN1* winner and ‘love of her life’ as she told us there, Confidential TAE, competing in the 1* here.

All dressage takes place on Saturday with showjumping and cross country for the Star classes on Sunday. The lower-level classes are full to bursting, the weather is looking perfect for eventing and we’re filming all competitors on cross country so make sure you smile at the cameras!

Check back next week for our full wrap up and follow our socials for snippets throughout the weekend.
