Can it really be three years since we were all at Burghley? How time flies during Covid!

But we will all be back from Wednesday 31st August to Sunday 4th September to see who will be crowned the 2022 Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials champion

The crowds will be back - follow us on social media to see what they're enjoying outside of the eventing action

Defending Champion Pippa Funnell will be back with Billy Walk On and Majas Hope while the World Number One Oliver Townend will be starting Tregilder, Swallow Springs and Lukas. It is likely that his other two horses currently listed, As Is and Ballaghmor Class will be the two withdrawn from his initial five entries with As Is having just taken second place in the CCI4*-S at Blair Castle and Ballaghmor Class heading to Pratoni for the World Championships after a stroll around the hills of Blair

Similarly, the other British team members for Pratoni, Ros Canter riding Lordships Graffalo, Tom McEwen riding Toledo De Kerser and Yasmin Ingham riding Banzai Du Loir have also withdrawn but we should get to see Ros competing on Pencos Crown Jewel and Tom on CHF Cooliser

Defending Champion Pippa Funnell will be back

Another Pratoni-bound combination, this time from the USA in Boyd Martin and Tsetserleg TSF have withdrawn, but there are still some fabulous combinations to follow

Three Australian combinations are currently listed in Clayton Fredericks riding FE Coldplay, Sammi Birch on Finduss PFB and Sarah Clark, who has made the journey over from South Australia for ‘the pinnacle of our sport’ and New Zealand has three riders with five horses in Tim Price (Bango, Polystar I and Vitali), Holly Swain riding Solo and Jonelle Price riding the Badminton winner, Classic Moet

We're looking forward to catching up with Wonder Woman Jonelle Price

Talking of Badminton winners, we’re tipping Piggy March and Vanir Kamira as hot favourites, Kitty King’s Vendredi Biats as the ‘white horse’ (as he can’t be a dark horse) and you can never discount Izzy Taylor .....

But no-one can really predict what will happen – you just have to be there. Failing that, you can watch all the action on Burghley TV, and catch up here each day with the interviews and updates you get nowhere else

We’ll see you tomorrow, live from Burghley! Don't forget to follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for video snippets and more throughout the weekend

"That’s where I want to run, that’s the best to be. When you’ve achieved getting around a 5*, that makes all the hard work worth it” Zara Tindall and Class Affair missed Badminton but now head to Burghley
