The draw for the 2024 Defender Kentucky Three Day Event (25th – 28th April) will see the USA’s Sara Kozumplik riding Rock Phantom as the first combination competing in the CCI5* class.

Phillip Dutton was originally the Number One rider in the draw with Denim, but this horse has been withdrawn and Phillip now has two in the CCI5* class with Quasi Cool at number 23 and Azure competing as the final combination of the draw.

Ireland’s Susie Berry is the first visiting rider, drawn at number six on board Clever Trick followed by the first of the four German riders, Calvin Bockmann on The Phantom of the Opera at number 12.

Four British combinations

Four British combinations are now in the draw, after Ros Canter withdrew Izilot DHI who is now likely to start at Badminton Horse Trials instead. Kirsty Chabert riding Classic VI is drawn at 17, with Kentucky 2022 runners-up Yasmin Ingham and Banzai Du Loir the very next combination to go in 18th. These two ladies are likely to do their dressage on the first day while Oliver Townend riding Cooley Rosalent and Tom McEwen riding JL Dublin, last year’s runners-up, are in the second half of the draw as numbers 38 and 44.
